Jared James Nichols has earned a reputation as one of the most talented guitarists in the world—a true “player’s player.” As a Blackstar Artist for 14 years, Jared has worked closely with the company to create his second signature amp: the JJN 50 Head and JJN 212 VOC Cabinet. With Jared’s career reaching new heights and larger stages, it was time for his amplifier to evolve. Blackstar collaborated with him to develop this new model, and they are proud to introduce the JJN 50.
This amp has been rigorously road-tested across the UK and Europe fine-tuned to deliver Jared’s signature BLUES POWER tone. On tour, Jared has been using the St. James 50 EL34H alongside his JJN 20, which inspired the foundation of his new signature amp. Working closely with Jared, Blackstar enhanced the top end, allowing a broader frequency range to shine through—perfect for his fingerstyle playing, where each note snaps and pops with precision.
The JJN 50 also features a custom BLUES POWER circuit, kicking the amp into overdrive with rich harmonics and dynamic overtones. During a visit to Blackstar HQ in Northampton, UK, Jared personally tested a variety of speakers. His ideal combination? A Celestion G12T-75 in the top position, paired with a lightweight Celestion Zephyr in the bottom. This blend keeps the cabinet lightweight while complementing his expressive playing style.
To complete the design, the amp is finished in Jared’s signature British Racing Green livery. Each unit includes a certificate of authenticity signed by Jared, along with exclusive JJN collectibles, making this amp as unique as the tones it delivers.
