Annual Composition Competition 2023


The deadline to apply is December 01, 2023


  • Applicants must be a current student at either Music Gallery & Academy or Tri-City School of Music.
  • The applicants must submit one selection of their choice, written by the applicant within the past 5 years, however it could be performed by someone other than the applicant.
  • Duration: no longer than 10 minutes.
  • Applicant must upload the recording on YouTube or Google Drive and provide the link the in application form. Online links are preferred, but MP3 files are also acceptable.
  • The recording should be a fair representation of the applicant’s abilities but does not need to be of professional quality.
  • Applicants must provide the score as a PDF file in the application form.
  • There will be 2 difficulty categories to apply to – General and Advanced.


  • All applicants will receive written comments/feedback from the competition adjudicators. Judges’ decisions are final and can’t be appealed.
  • The judges will be: Eric Bate, Arthur Lo, and Claire Hwangbo. 
  • The final selection of winners will be based solely on the video recordings submitted.
  • A winner will be chosen from each difficulty category, and each awarded a prize.
